learning always learning

I was happy to finish this little top last night. I'm happy with it now but 1st I had to learn another lesson about value. One of the border panels had to be re-appliqued because I used a background fabric that was the right color but way too light. It pained me a bit to take out those little hand stitches but in the end it is much better. Now it needs to be quilted - I'm still debating whether to quilt it by hand or by machine. This other picture is from a new book Canadian Heritage Quilting by Karen Neary and Diane Shink. I just got it at the library. There are a few beautiful old quilts pictured in it but this applique masterpiece with beautiful quilting and trapunto is my favorite. I just wish there was a picture of the whole quilt.
Happy Quilting!!

Lovely little quilt. Go for hand quilting! It is becoming a lost art. The quilt show we had only had a few hand quilted quilts. It was kind of sad.

That is a very sweet quilt! I know how hard it is to redo something, but the end results usually make it worthwhile.

The quilt looks really good, your efforts have paid off. It wouldn't take long to hand quilt it. Thanks for the picture in the book, I can't understand why they wouldn't show the whole quilt given that it's a stunner! I love the block and the quilting is to die for.

It's so sweet!! I love the colors. Recently I had to redo some work and I'm still not quite happy with it...but I am determined to finish it.

Beautiful little quilt! It won't be right until YOU think it is right, so pick away if you need to!
Thank you for sharing.

I'd hand quilt that. It looks lovely and old-fashioned somehow. I hate handstitching, but I appreciate the effort others put into it.

Your applique piece is oh so nice. Hard to think about pulling out hand applique stitches and re-doing them. But good for you.
