My daughters have been sewing again. This book got it started. It's about a Canadian historic event that happened in Halifax. My DD#1 who is now 11 had it out from the library. She found in the back of the book there were instructions for making an Irish Chain quilt. My DD#2 who is 8 caught onto this as well and here is her doll quilt sized Irish chain quilt top.

Your DD's have done well. I remember my DS making a small quilt when he was 8, it was a nine patch too.
The girls are doing great with their sewing....I too have days where I would rather read :0)

Ah, adorable little quilts! Reading and quilting- what could be better?!
Those girls 'got the quilting bug' young. Good for them. They did a great job.
I'm so often torn between reading and quilting - now here's another book I want to read and another quilt I want to sew! LOL
Ohh! Those are both very nice! So fun that your girls want to share in something you love to do too.
It's wonderful that your Daughters are interested in reading AND quilting! I hope the bug bites them and they'll have a lifetime of enjoyment from both.
They both did a really nice job..you must be very proud of them?! :)
Aren't books great. They can make your imagination soar and make you want to make a quilt. That is so great.
Love your daughter's quilt - its just charming. So wonderful to see the quilting tradition carried on.
