playing with blocks

I was laying awake last night thinking about how I was going set these blocks I've been making. The block is from Kathleen Tracy's book "Remembering Adelia". She stopped at 9 blocks for her quilt but I was having too much fun with them and continued making more. Always when I laid them out to look at I placed them like this.
I thought of a few other arrangements and so tonight, I tried them out.
This one would have sashing.
This one with all the color is the one I thought about last night. The things that keep me awake at night... lol
I've never laid the blocks out like this before but I do like it - obviously I'd need more blocks - oh and likely more fabric too :0)
I guess I'll have to think about this one a little more. Maybe next time I start a quilt I'll have a plan ...
Happy Quilting!!

You have lots of choices on the setting. I like the setting in # 2 photo. I think you have the blocks laying on a carpet. Whatever, the soft color would make an interesting setting for the blocks. It caught my eye right away.

Oh those sleepless nights planning quilt layouts, designs etc. I have many of those too. Your blocks are beautiful, I will be following to view all the choices and your final decision. Thank you for sharing!

I like the one with the colored backgrounds! It's a little different. So many possibilities...one of my favorite things about patchwork!

I love the last layout.

It's always surprising to me how much the design changes when you lay them out differently. At first glance, I thought you had appliqued the leaves on the last layout before realizing they were always there. I know, I'm not a quilter!

I'm amazed too at how the different layouts look like you used different blocks. These are all nice... you might have to make four quilts!!

I vote for either the second placement or the last one. This is turning out wonderful!! I think the last one is my favorite! Sometimes it's more fun to not have a plan at first!! :0)

You are killing me! I adore all the settings. The bottom one is more old fashioned looking to me. I want it bed size!

Hi Janet,
I like the second, but I love the last one. It looks traditional and beautiful. The leaves really do make an impression on the last layout.
