I decided to go with double parallel lines in the borders to try something new. They are 1/4" and 3/4" apart. I really like the texture that is created.
I decided to change the direction of the lines as I go around the corners. I got this idea from looking in books at the quilting of antique quilts. Here is the first corner. Together with the feathers it does make the corners a bit busy. Oh well - I'm learning :0)
The kids finished school for the summer yesterday. I suspect posts could be few for a couple months. I'm looking forward to a busy and fun summer!
Happy Quilting!!

Beautiful quilting. The old saying "All good things take time," is true. Chris

Such beautiful, neat quilting! I don't think the border is busy at all. Love the handquilted look. Hope you and your children have a fun summer!
Oh Janet, your quilting is BEAUTIFUL!! I love the feathers and don't think it looks too busy at all, adds additional movement and texture....great choice IMHO :0)

Wow! It is amazing and looking very antique. I love the way you did the corners and don't think it looks busy at all!!
Enjoy summer!!
Your quilting is just gorgeous! Keep going..it'll be worth it. :)
You do fantastic work Janet- Where in Alberta do you live? I live in Edmonton-
Have a fun time with your kids- the summer will go quickly. I am a teacher so it is the first day of summer break for me- time to quilt and catch up to myself. Our son is grown but I do remember the times of summer vacation with a child.
Regards,
Anna

The double lines are great and give an antique look to your quilt. I've wanted to try that but am wondering about marking...do you mark both lines? If not, how do you manage the quilting?
I so admire your hand quilting. Just lovely.
Janet, it looks absolutely breathtakingly B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L!!! Keep going, and the corner is genius, I love how the transition is softened by the feathers. Oh, I can imagine it washed! Congratulations, :)
