Panel #9

My blog has been quiet because we were away.  We escaped winter to beautiful Mexico for 10 days.  What a delightful and relaxing holiday!  I finished up panel #9 of my Susan McCord trailing vine quilt stitching by the pool and on the plane.  I am still thrilled to sew on each finished panel.  Only 4 more to go :0)
 Still lov'in this project!!
We've been home for a few days and more of these blocks have been made.  I'm still having fun with them but perhaps I'll stop at 16.
Then I made this Panda bear block to contribute to my guild's Zoo quilt that we are assembling tonight.  It went together fairly easily but then the face had to be done by hand.
The eyes were no problem but the mouth and nose had to be embroidered - yikes!  It didn't go very well and now I'm even more worried about the future of my Bird of Paradise blocks.  I want them to have embroidery but I don't like doing it and I'm not very good at it.  I may have to sew them together and keep going with the borders without embroidery.  At least then I will get to a finished quilt.
The kids wanted to paint pottery at the resort where we stayed in Mexico so I did a piece too.  It's so bright and happy :0)  We painted it as we wanted and then a resort staff person "fixed" it up to look like Mexican pottery.  I should have asked him if he did embroidery...

Happy Quilting!!

I know what you mean about embroidery - I have the same lack of confidence there. Am very tempted just to ink it on... But your panda looks wonderful ! Love all the projects - thanks for showing us your progress.

Good one - where did you stay in Mexico. I know my husband would love to go, but I'm always afraid it isn't safe there. Love seeing your project progress.

How wonderful to get away to Mexico! where did you go?
Your vine quilt is stunning, I love to get updates on this quilt - and I'm so happy to hear you are still enjoying it, what a joy.
your blocks look really great. 16 will make a nice sized quilt.
Your panda looks so cute, and you embroidery looks great too. have you thought of using a pigma pen instead of embroidery on the bird of paradise?
Your dish is beautiful!

Wow, your trailing vines looks amazing. How about I'll embroider birds of paradise for you if you applique trailing vines for me? :)

10 days in Mexico? I think I could use that about now! Good for you!!

That vine quilt is so stunning! How nice to see it get bigger and bigger and not tiring of it.

From here, your panda's mouth and nose look perfect! I know that when I'm working up close and personal with a project, I've seen every little flaw ... flaws that anyone else probably isn't going to see.

I love the colors and design of your pottery. I'm curious what the resort staff person did to "fix" it?? Speaking of the resort, I'm wishing I were at a resort in some warm, beachy locale.
