a new (ufo) project

These blocks have been bugging me for awhile.  I often thought of them languishing away in the ufo pile.  I hadn't worked on them since 2010.  I still really like these blocks and I want to finish this quilt.  I'm thinking about it for my next handquilting project.  That should give me a few months to make a pieced border for it. The sashing went together quickly and I have much of the next border cut and ready to sew.    I'm glad it's out of the bin and in the current pile again.
It should be no surprise that more of these 6 inch blocks have appeared.  They are still so fun to choose block patterns and scraps for.
I spent a bit of time working on this one over the weekend.  The cutting instructions in the book were wrong and so I wasn't feeling too confident that it would turn out.  I did have fun sewing it but I would not make a whole quilt with blocks like this!
I was also excited to win a giveaway on Anne's blog.
Finding this package in the mail made my day.  There are a couple projects in the book that are tempting me. The pattern was an extra surprise - I love the combination of pieced triangles with the applique.
I hope you find some time to do some stitching this week :0)
Happy Quilting!

What a great win - congratulations! I love your pieced flower blocks - peonies maybe? Hand quilting would be perfect for them - looking forward to seeing your progress.

Congratulations on your win! I love your pink and yellow block.
Getting old projects out can be like finding an old friend. Enjoy finishing this one off.

Glad you have decided to pull that quilt out of the UFO bin. It's lovely and very worthy of being finished.

Nice scrap blocks too. It's such a nice feeling using up the scraps!!!

I LOVE your lily quilt! It is a block I have been wanting to make, and you mixed it up with the colors! It's awesome! Nice books you won! I have that Renee Plains book and love it! Have fun!

Those lily blocks are so fresh looking! That's going to be a beautiful quilt when finished. I found an interesting variation of that block in an antique quilt that I'm drafting now.
And that little pink & yellow block is knee-weakening!

I love your UFO project! I wish my pile of UFOs had such a hopeful project in it...isn't it funny how we always like other people's UFOs better than our own?? Too funny...I can't wait to see you you finish it.
