basket quilt progress

I have all the blocks together now for this basket quilt for my DD#3. I love the pink and brown together. It gets a narrow brown border and a pink and brown piano key border after that.
I'm a bit nervous about adding the first border - the squares on all 4 edges will be trimmed making the entire edge on the bias. Sew the border on first and then trim I think is the key...but I'm still nervous about it. The pattern for this setting is in the May/June '09 Quiltmaker magazine - I used my own basket block.
Happy Quilting!!

Wow - that is an amazing quilt!

I am suddenly struck with the fear that my kids will have nothing to pass on to their kids to remember me by. No scrapbooks, no quilts. Your kids, on the other hand, will have some beautiful heirloom quilts. That is gorgeous.

Stunning! Amazing work you do and I absolutely love this color combo. It can be so beautiful when done well. Definitely. Stunning is the word. You're smart: "Sew the border on first and then trim" - I wouldn't have known what to do there. Learned something new today. I'm done. hee! Oh, one last thing. There are really some interesting fabrics in this quilt.

It's a real beauty!!!
I've seen directions for borders that way and have avoided doing it. I like your idea, so be sure to let us know how it works out.

Gorgeous, stunning quilt! I love the colours but I was never one for brown and pink together, I've changed my mind. I can't wait to see it with the borders on.
