I was so pleased to finish all 12 of these blocks for my ufo. I don't think I'd ever have finished them at home. Retreat was the perfect place to work on them. However, it was a bit distracting...
and I made a cutting mistake which led to running out of background fabric - and so I had to piece a few squares to use for hst's. I don't think it will be too noticeable once it's quilted.
So on the last day with my ufo blocks all finished I just had to start something new. I just love the Crowfoot block from the cover of Betsy Chutchian's "Gone to Texas" book. I've seen this block dozens of times before but done in the lovely scrappy colors Betsy chose I couldn't resist.
My version turned out a little bit too busy I think - but I'm having too much fun to tone it down now. :0)Happy Quilting!!

I didn't notice you'd pieced your background until you said something -- so quilted you'll be just fine. Glad you got your blocks finishes and your scrappy Crowfoot block is really great!
WOW you were very productive at the retreat!! I really like your busy Crow's Foot block :0)

Love that bottom block...the scrappy look works so well!
I've jsut had to use the poverty patch too on a little quilt block. So glad I'm not the only one to do that when necessary:)
I love the scrappy crowfoot!!
OH, boy we all make those cutting mistakes but I think you are right that it probably won't show when quilted.
I don't think your star blocks are busy at all. I love them so far.
Busy is better! What a great scrap-buster. And I never noticed your piecing in the other blocks either!
Love your crowfoot block - its not too busy - its just right! Hope to see more of these!

That beautiful block is not too busy for me! I love busy.
As to your first blocks, I have had to use pieces in that manner to stretch the fabric as well, or sometimes just for fun. You got lots done!
I think that piecing you did - or were forced to do - makes the block have some added texture so I like it! :)
As for that beautiful block you have there, that scrumptious Crowfoot - I've never seen it before so I'm head over heals over here at LeeHaven. Wow! LOVE IT.
I love your new project. I don't think you should change anything about it.
Me too, I love the crowsfoot and I don't think it's too busy. You could always tame some others down. I love that you used the economy patches, that's what was done all the time on antique quilts. Nothing was wasted.
