more circles

It felt like time to get back to my Jen Kingwell Circle Game quilt.  A friend and I are working on it together.  She's been pretty busy so instead of starting a new block without her I put surrounds on 2 blocks I had already made.
I really like this block with the flying geese going around.  It has such a large center circle so I decided to fussy cut the large paisley to fit in there so it wouldn't look empty.
This other block is probably my least favorite so far but it fits in there and lets the other blocks be more interesting.  It just needed the surround to take it from a circle to a square block.
Now that I have 9 blocks completely finished I can get a really good idea of how it will look.  (its a 16 block quilt)   I love how all the different Minick and Simpson lines work together.  I have 2 more circles made and I guess that leaves 5 more blocks to start.  I'm more than halfway  :0)  To confess the other 2 circles waiting for surrounds have "issues".  One is a bit too big and the other one a bit too small.  I'm tempted to just trim the too big one down and not worry about cutting points off.  The small one is a different challenge.  Could I add a coping circle around it?  Is there such a thing?  They were ones I made near the beginning.  I guess I could try remaking them in hopes that my piecing has improved...   Generally speaking I'm more of a fudger than a perfectionist.  I'll have to think about it for a few days.

Happy Quilting!!

Wow very interesting blocks! Are they hard to assemble? I have some circle blocks to fit into a quilt!

Every time you post on this circle quilt, I am amazed. I love this quilt and each block seems to have such personality of it's own.

Wow - the only circle block I have ever made was a Dresden Plate. These blocks are so spectacular! The fabrics are perfect for it!

Those blocks look so good together. I just love the fabric lines that all go together from one season to another. The Paisley center was a good choice.

Looking gorgeous - the fabrics do work together very well! I like the idea of a 'coping circle' - with all the circles already in there it should blend in well?
I learn a lot from fixing up my errors - am not a perfectionist either :)

The first block with the geese in a circle is a very interesting block. I like how you have the center with the fussy cut center. Makes a fancy quilt.

Why not make a coping circle? I'm betting it would just blend right in. Love that fussy cut paisley center! These are all just great and your comment about the one block making the other ones more interesting made me smile. So true with quilts.:)

Oh I think they look great. Can you make a background square and applique the too small one? Anyway I am sure you will come up with something.

Those are spectacular blocks! I really like the block with the flying geese, too ... and love the fussy-cut center! I love designers whose fabrics all go together regardless of when they were introduced. I too am definitely a fudger ... I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one.

What beautiful blocks! I'm sure you will figure out what to do with the blocks that aren't fitting properly. I'm in the school of Humble quilts, but in this case I may be tempted to re-do them to have them fit better.

This is going to be another great quilt!
I think coping strips or circle are really creative, go for it. Perfectionism is highly over rated.

I'm definitely in the "make do" camp. That's what we love so much about antique quilts, right? Your quilt is wonderful - always love the M&S fabrics.
