about time for a post

Tomorrow the next block of Barbara Brackman's applique block of the month comes out.  I can't wait!  Since my last post I have completed 2 blocks.  Here is block #3 - it was a quick and easy block.
And block #4 - a fun one with lots of berries.  I used dimes for starch prepping the berries which worked really well.
Here are the first 4 blocks together.  They haven't been trimmed down yet so there's extra background in this picture.  With 5 more blocks to be released I want to wait a bit before deciding on what to do for borders.
I've made several more tree blocks.  Just 3 more to stitch and I've decided to set them with this wonderful green fabric.
I actually ordered the green to use to set these 'star a day' stars but I think its perfect for the trees and I still have dozens more stars to make so another fabric will come along and be just right for the stars.  My star production is more like a star a week so there's lots of time...
I received my Bird of Paradise quilt back from it's travels to Houston and Chicago.  The box and acid free tissue were just perfect for boxing up my Lily quilt which is making its way to Houston for the show this fall.  I was pretty pleased to have another quilt accepted.
And the big news around here is that my DD#2 graduated from High school.  I am so proud of my beautiful and gracious daughter.  She plans to attend university next year here in Calgary and I'm so glad she's not moving away just yet.

Happy Quilting!!

Your blocks are so gorgeous! I am looking forward to tomorrow's post as well. These have been fun! I wish I could say I was going to Houston this year so I could see your lily quilt in person. I do plan on going in 2020 to stay with a friend. It will be a first for me. I surely wish I had gone last year just to meet you!

Thanks for such pretty eye candy this more. I like seeing fabrics through others’ eyes. Clearly, I need more of that green!

Congratulations on having another quilt shown at Houston! I've been following your blog since I came across the beginning of your Circle Game quilt years ago. (I'm hoarding Minick & Simpson fabrics for my retirement in a couple years!) Ruth in FL

I LOVE your colors in the applique blocks. great collection of greens.
Don't they do an amazing job packing the quilts at Houston?
I entered a quilt too, but didn't get accepted. Still I had 2 years in a row and will try next year. I'm happy they are getting so many entries!
I was planning to go, but my plans have changed so I'll think about 2020.
Beautiful photo of you and your graduate daughter. I think going close to home is the best plan and I wish my kids had (they do too)
your stars and tree projects are gorgeous!
